A prominent lawyer, Amy Somers has been an Assistant Prosecutor for Wayne County, Michigan since graduating from Wayne State University Law School in 2004. She is currently assigned to work with the Sexual Assault Kit Task Force, advising on legal issues and handling post-conviction appeals in cases arising out of the rape kit backlog. Throughout her career, she has worked extensively with crime victims, social workers, and law enforcement professionals. She also has training in victim-centered and trauma-informed approaches, when dealing with survivors.
Amy brings her years of experience and expertise to the Sparrow Freedom Project board, with the goal of providing services and support to human trafficking survivors, while also working to shape and grow the organization.
In her free time, Amy enjoys running, sailing, walking her dog, and participating in her book club.
